TGG has Been Around for 15 Years

TGG has been around for 15 years!

The journey of growing a company – especially a service-based company like ours – has its growing pains and we wanted to share a little about what we have learned throughout these past 15 years. It’s great to be in a position to look back and see how far we’ve come and also to be able to look forward to all that we still want to accomplish. We think we’ve really hit our stride. The systems we have put in place have set our clients and our company up for success.

TGG’s trusty Founder & CEO, Matt Garrett’s 15 Things We’ve Learned Being In Business for 15 Years

  1. Treat people as individuals: We all have ways we perform best.  We have learned that you can’t manage people as if they work just like you! Working with people’s needs is important to a happy workforce.
  2. Nothing happens until somebody sells something.
  3. Don’t spend more money than you make: This is good advice for life and work.
  4. You’re always going to fail: It’s how you handle it and move on that matters.
  5. Accurate financials really do tell an accurate story about the present and the future too: Numbers numbers numbers. When you rely on them, they never let you down.
  6. You really can make a difference in people’s lives: It’s not just a pipe dream, you really can.
  7. Kindness starts with rules and discipline: Its kinder and more fair to give people rules and hold them accountable than not establish them in the first place.
  8. You need to manage by objective criteria and outcomes.
  9. Set SMART Goals:  The SMART (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, Timely)  Goal format is the best way to set goals for yourself and others.
  10. Leadership at every level is important: Empower employees so they can lead at every level, not just at the most senior levels.
  11. Entrepreneurs are really resilient and adapt to change quickly.
  12. Most marketing doesn’t work: But the marketing that does work, provides all your returns.
  13. 20% of the people cause 80% of the problems: Find those people who are problem makers and help them make different career decisions.
  14. We can actually do this business remotely: COVID has been rough on everyone, but one benefit has been to teach us that we can have an efficient,
  15. You always need to be innovating and developing a new way of doing things: it’s a never-ending process.

Cheers to 15 more years of innovation and hard work, of learning to do things better and being accountable for the things we could do better!

We are so proud of our team and we continue to be dedicated to making our clients lives better through excellent financial management.
