Foundations of Accounting: What‘s right and what’s left

This session is about setting the foundation in your accounting journey. We start with understanding the core accounting principles that have built the industry. From there we go into an overview of financial statements and finish the day with a deep dive into debits and credit.

Excel: The formula for success

There are many different accounting systems in use today and will be many more to come, but Excel has stood the test of time as the most adaptable tool in an accountant’s tool belt. From personal budgets to fully automated financial statements, Excel can do it all!  In this session, we will start with the basics and transition into the core formulas.Excel can be overwhelming but by the time you finish this course it will be your best friend.

Cash vs Accrual: It’s Accrual World

When you get your credit card statement, you purchased those items last month, but the cash will not come out of your account till you pay it. In accrual accounting, you would have already accounted for that amount and planned for it to be taken out. THIS is accrual accounting.

Accounts Payable: We Owe You

The definition of accounts payable is in the name, it is an account you need to pay. An AP department is vital for every company because without it, who is going to pay your bills? An AP specialist is one of the most common entry level positions in accounting. In this course we will go over the accounts payable process as well as common problems that may arise.

Accounts Payable: You Owe Us

The definition of accounts receivable is in the name, it is an account you will receive money from. An AR department is vital for every company because without it, you would not be able to collect money from customers. An AR specialist is also one of the most common entry level positions in accounting. In this course we will go over the accounts receivable process as well as common problems that may arise.

Bank Reconciliations: Show Us The Money!

Looking at your credit card statement you receive every month, you probably check to make sure everything on there is what you actually paid for. THIS is the underlying concept behind a bank reconciliation. In this session, you will learn why bank reconciliations are important for businesses and not only see how a bank reconciliation is done, but will be tasked with completing your own.

Financial Statements: Putting it all together

Financial statements serve as a company’s “score board” and tell the story about the company’s financial position. Financial statements are used to make decisions internally and externally. In this session, you will learn each aspect of the financial statements and why it is important.

Professional Communication: Numbers only get you so far

Communication is the most important tool for any professional. Communication is especially important in the professional world, and it is different from every other area of your life. The course will cover written, verbal, and non-verbal communication. Understanding your own personal communication style, how to recognize the communication style of others, and how to tailor your approach to others.
